I have a client who is using FC3 on a server to share up network drives to Win XP Pro computers in their office. I have given each user their own username and password for mapping these drives, but now they want the ability to change the passwords themselves.
Are the any good tools for doing this - or do I need to write something.
I'm thinking on the lines of a PHP or CGI script (they have Apache running on the server).
I think perhaps the best solution would be to implement Open LDAP to create a an LDAP Primary Domain Controller (PDC). I don't have any clients that require this but it is something I have always wanted to do for myself as it is a part of using linux as a PDC instead of an M$ Windows solution. Shifting the subject slightly, I have a few Compaq dual P200, scsi, raid servers and plenty of discs available to give away for testing / experimenting if anyone would like to work with me on a Debian LDAP PDC solution - I guess you would have to live near South Norfolk, I've seen Harleston mentioned on these lists a few times, I'm not far from there. I have a fair amount of Samba/Debian/Compaq experience I just haven't gotten around to going the whole hog yet with LDAP. Cheers, Nick
Sorry to quote all of the above, but I never received a copy of Stuart's original post, and by now I probably won't! Is stuff going missing? I dunno...
Anyway, there's a simpler way than LDAP:
