[ALUG] ftp on the blackboard

Have Linux Phrasebook (Essential Code & Commands) and I can find no reference to ftp there. Could some kind person suggest a good place (webwise) to start looking for gen? (The button on the Firefox add-on won't appear, and demands new files, so can't use that, and it's irksome to have to use another box, fire-up XP, update AVG definitions, and use WS...)
