I bought a second^h^h^pre-loved HP Compaq 2610p, and I can't fault it. I'm running Mint 17.1.
I was a bit wary, as HP flaptops don't have the best reputation for reliability, but the guarantee which went with it and its price made up my mind for me.
Battery lasts longer than any other flapjack I've had, and the whole is a handy size - smaller than your vast ones, but larger than a notebook.
