[ALUG] PLC programming in Linux

Has anyone here ever had any experience with using Linux to program a Programmable Logic Controller or similar device? If so, what software did you use and for which make of PLC? I've just spent a very unfruitful afternoon Googling for some clues: so far, nothing! Thanks for any hints, Gerald.
