Is it a big job replacing the drive in a Packard Bell laptop, like pull one out and plug another in or is it deeper than that and more technical. Just trying to work out if it is cost effective to replace drive. Any advice ?
Usually they are one of the easier things to replace, often there will be a small pull out drawer (usually held by a single retaining screw) on the side or a hard drive sized trapdoor on the underside.
Some of the packard bells require removal of the keyboard and/or the whole topside of the machine (palmrest split from rest of chassis) but even that is not out of the realm of anyone armed with a screwdriver set and a little bit of nouse. If you are about Bury St Edmunds you can always pop into my office and I will happily change it for you, alternatively somebody at the upcoming kit meet would help you.
