Do you mean that we can't restart if the PPP link drops? Not really usable for most people on dialup in this country then, where periodic kicks and noisy lines are the norm.
GNU/GnomeFTP is a goodie for restarts mid file, if there was a way to script
I meant restart if the PPP link drops during installation. With a little pestering, debian will restart its downloads from where it got to, as long as the base is installed (so maybe downloading them to hard disk will still be a good idea for us).
For scripted general use, wget is quite easy to configure to make it timeout and retry.
