I did that, Nev, and still it runs on start up. :¬/ I found this, though it relates to windows: http://www.itauthor.com/articles/preventing-bbc-iplayer-running-all-the-time... It illustrates the difficulties nicely however...
Unfortunately that article is out of date. iPlayer doesn't use Kontiki or p2p anymore.
