Pan is a very nice newsreader for X. See http://www.superpimp.org for more. The only reason I don't use it is because it doesn't have scoring as good as slrn's.
Gnus+XEmacs is probably as good as newsreading (and email) gets, I think, but that assumes you like Emacs.
I don't even have Emacs installed I'm afraid, I'm a Vim man myself.
/me runs away from the screaming Emacsphiles holding lots of rope ;)
I've strayed, but come back to it again now that my email has hit preposterous. The reason I don't use slrn is its scoring isn't as good ;-)
Hehe. The scoring on slrn is good enough for me, I basically use scoring for 2 things:
1) A plain old killfile. It's essential since I frequent c.o.l.a. 2) Scoring up posts that have me in the References. It was the only way I could find posts which were in reply to me. Beforehand, I'd miss a lot of posts meant for me.
You obviously aren't addicted to games :)
Mmmm... would people be up for a dumb netgame at the next ALUG or the one after?
Perhaps, but I have to attend an ALUG first :)
