If its not too late to throw in an idea:- maybe materials and ideas from the LFS project could be usefully drawn upon throughout the lecture series (not necessarily the whole thing of course, but appropriate selected bits). This could cut down on preparation time and also provide a body of available, quality written materials.
That's probably a very good idea if we want to do a low-level "how it really works" type of session. I've put some notes from the chat at the last meeting onto the web site, in the "Contrib Area", imaginatively named something like "IntroTalks", so please improve them as you see fit.
A lot of the discussion seemed to focus on talks for people totally new to the idea of GNU/Linux, rather than technical "how it works" and "how to do task X" talks for people who are already users. I think there's probably room for both, but we need more ideas about the exact content of both talks and be very clear about which type each talk is. Maybe we should colour-code them: "green" talks for potential users; "blue" talks explaining how to do tasks (after the light blue shirt and tie worn by the people trying to do this in companies?); "black" talks explaining things in technical detail (because we all know hackers wear black, no?).
Just an idea, as daft as any other. Feel free to set fire to it.
