Yep, it works fine on my (KDE) desktop. Very pretty indeed.
Personally however I will stick to lcdproc as I have more "real world" desktop space than "computer world" desktop space and lcdproc connected to a 4/20 display salvaged from a broken handheld serial terminal gives me all the information I need.
Speaking of which I have a spare 2/16 display (salvaged from a 3com ISDN bridge). free to someone who promises they will play with it rather than stuffing it in a drawer as I have done. I'll even chuck in a suitable wiring diagram to connect it to your parallel port.
It's a bit small for lcdproc to be honest, a 4/20 is much better.
