I believe PGAccess and Gnome-DB provide much of the same functionality, but I don't think anything is *compatible* with MS Access. Star Office might have something, but I don't have that to hand to look.
Star office unfortunatly doesn't support DB ATM. I will have a look at PGAccess, but in the mean time I think I will borrow a laptop with access on it :o(
Sorry, your tutor is hell-bent on making MS's money, it would seem.
The college get MS software cheaply and also its "The Industry Standard" (quote from lecturer) Ms get there money in that all the students come out as people only able to use crap software and who only know of crap software, and as such will contniue to pay MS tax and use there crap software. But for next year the college will have 6 new linux boxes!!!!
