I don't think I've ever needed a driver for a USB hub, I certainly can't think of a driver ever being used.
Over the years, I've met a few devices which didn't like one or the other of the Linux USB drivers ([uoe]hci I think) and I'd like to never meet any again, so the question. Also, is there any particularly good hub out there?
There have been problems with USB1 devices hung off a USB2 hub; I believe this has been sorted in recent 2.6 kernels, but as I don't have any USB hubs it's not something I've ever been hit by myself.
