Sorry, that's a winmodem. If you can get it to work, results are likely to be temporary and have side-effects, in my experience.
The fax program is trying to use /dev/ttyS1 which is most likely a default when my modem is on /dev/ttySHSF0.
Thus necessary to edit wvdial.conf [...]
wvdial.conf shouldn't have anything to do with efax.
[...]
Tried to send a fax and have pasted the window (above "SEND FAX" button) info in gtk-efax Socket running on port 9900 efax-0.9a: 11:48:00 opened /dev/ttySHSF0 efax-0.9a: 11:48:02 Error: can't determine fax modem class support efax-0.9a: 11:48:02 failed page /home/james/Desktop/JF-CV.pdf.001 efax-0.9a: 11:48:02 finished - invalid modem response
It would seem the modem can't select its class... recommends AUTO [from the choice of class 1, class2, class3]. Tried all three CAN'T BE FAR OUT!....
Edit your efax.rc and set CLASSINIT to -o1 to force Class 1, -o2 for Class 2 and -o0 for Class 2.0. I think that will avoid the error.
Also tried gFax and that didn't work either or should i use hylafax?
Again, in my experience, efax works with more modems and is simpler to get working.
Hope that helps,
