Hi Many thanks all, I did not think of looking in Bios, I have now turned off "enable usb keyboard support" and it seems O.K. When I had the trouble with Kubuntu, I grabbed the first disc available, Linux Mint (Edgy with codecs) and that installed O.K. until an update yesterday, and then the keyboard dissapeared again. I was blaming the distros, when it was the users fault. All fine after four reboots.
