The new site is live! Go take a look at http://www.anglian.lug.org.uk/
Horray! :)
As I've said to one person off-list, I know the current design isn't that great, so if you want to come up with a new page template, please create it and show it to the list. I'll abide by the decision of the majority, natch.
I've been having a bit of a play with MySQL, PHP and various others bits and bobs over the past couple of days (as I'm attempting to learn both MySQL and PHP properly - although I'm always tempted to nick other people's code!!), and as a result, I've managed to cobble together a Slashdot-like interface for my own personal site (see http://www.drake.org.uk). It was put together using PHP-Nuke (http://www.phpnuke.org) and I think it makes for a nice interface, is easy to administrate, and I think it would work quite well for Alug.
*cough* why mySQL? *cough* I am currently using mySQL for a project I am working on for someone, but not through choice (as such) more through having SFA choice, that's what they had the data in, that's what they use. I am, personally, much more in favour of the much nicer postgres, try it, you just might like it (yes, you can run both on the same box, I do!).
Just my 2p worth ;)
