Just tried this. Works a treat.
It's available pre-built as in the ubuntu package manager (assuming you use Ubuntu). To use, load an image, make a small selection, then Filters>Enhance>Heal Selection. Bob's your uncle....
...or at least it worked for me when I tried it on some pictures taken blobs in the sky due to a mucky lens.
