Hi Barry
When I upgraded my KDE to 2.2.2, I found one application was not picking up on it's config options. After running ldconfig with no success, I downgraded kde-base to 2.2.1 which cured the problem. I suspect you too may have a similar problem, so it might be worth reverting just this one package.
