Only just caught up with this thread. Is it sorted now? or still unresolved?
50% sorted, in that we have a home via Wayne but he expressed some doubts about making it to meetings? I'm not 100% sure.
This is true, my concerns are that my inability to attend every ALUG meeting may present an availability issue to potential borrowers. So far I have attended a grand total of 0 ALUG meetings, partly due to other commitments and partly due to laziness. I intend to change that if and when I become responsible for the library. As things stand I believe that I am to take over at the nearest point where Kirsten and myself are able to meet (The Christmas meal or the meeting in January).
However as I stated initially somebody who has a better track record of turning up at meets would probably make a better candidate. If such a person steps forward (now or in the future) then I will happily turn the Library duties over to them.
I think I am with Adam on the computerisation front. I have been looking at a couple of options to bring the Library management into the 21st century, but unless we want the Library to be decentralised it really yields little benefit (the only clear one being that it could allow book availability/loan status/reservations on the ALUG Library Booklist)
That said, I am currently (as I write this) installing OpenDB on some webspace to see if it can do the job.
