So, you know all that spare processor time you've got? Feel like donating it to a (very) worthy cause?
I've set up a team for ALUG on distributed.net. If you've not come across them before, distributed.net is a distributed computer on a quite insane scale. They currently have somewhere in the region of 175,000 members working together on somewhere in the region on 220,000 computers ranging from 386s up to supercomputers. As the distributed.net tagline says: The largest computer on earth.
It's all pretty impressive stuff - distributed.net is currently working on breaking an RC5 code (basically to prove that it's possible to do it in a sensible amount of time)
If you'd care to join distributed.net and the ALUG team, then we'll see just how much useful work our computers can get done while we're not using them. Take a look at http://www.distributed.net/ for more details.
See you next sunday!
