The monthly "Second Thursday" ALUG Norwich Pub Meet is this Thursday, 8th December.
Somewhat disappointing unfortunately. Largely due to it being Christmas do season and a large group of Norwich Union staff having their meal in the Reindeer last night, combined with loud music, which meant it was very difficult to hear each other.
Those present included Mike Morton, Phil Wade (I think?), Martin (whose surname I can't remember, sorry), myself, Adam Bower, Paul C and Simon Elliott. Adam had brought a load of Ubuntu CDs and the usual Linux magazines. I'm not sure if he managed to get rid of all of either of them. :)
Adam and I discussed OpenStreetMap (http://www.openstreetmap.org/ if you're not aware of it - we've been busy trying to get Norfolk roughly covered but more help would be good!), Paul showed off his magic metal briefcase which contains a PC and a touchscreen, Martin wondered how many pure developers (rather than sysadmins) we had as a LUG and there was general discussion about how people will pay silly money for things on eBay and how sometimes you can sell stuff there when you can't give it away on Freecycle (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/norfolkukfreecycle/).
Most of us left early (my excuse was that I've had a dreadful cold all week). Hopefully next month the Reindeer will be back to its usual self and we'll be able to hear each other ok. Please do try and make it if you're in the area!
