I recall someone somewhere telling me that the Calculator app in Mac OS X is larger than the "whole" of the first release of the original Mac OS...which also included a Calculator.
To be fair though, in order to emulate the same sort of functionality as your DOS/Locoscript PC it would be possible to have a Linux installation boot from a Floppy.
It would still be bigger than DOS though.
