I don't see it being too much of a problem. As my ISP will receive mail for glovercc.clara.co.uk and freeserve receives for glovercc.freeserve.co.uk I just set the hostname of my machine to be gateway.glovercc etc This seems to work, as there is a correct MX entry for the domain.
