All,
I am looking for a portable device which I can use for uni which has the following features
- SSh client
- Qwerty keyboard
- PCMCIA slot for 802.11b card
I have looked at either a cheap or second hand laptop running bsd or a compaq Ipaq or possibley somthing combled togther from PC104 boards. What would people suggest? It just needs to be reasonably cheap and have the ability to ssh into my shell account.
I would suggest that an iPAQ may not be the best way to go. I have one, but, to be honest, I just use it as an expensive toy to hack on.
The biggest problem you'd have with the iPAQ would be the keyboard. I have a foldup stowaway keyboard which works fine, but, it needs to be unfolded and placed on a flat surface for use.
Also, the iPAQ battery life is only a few hours and remember that you'll need to spend 90 to get the PCMCIA sleeve for your 801.11 card.
