[ALUG] Kernel 2.6, pcmcia SmartMedia and MTD

My Thinkpad laptop used to run kernel 2.4 and my PCMCIA Adapter for SmartMedia worked. I have since had to change to kernel 2.6 to get the Thinkpad built-in Wireless networking to work. Now the PCMCIA SmartMedia adapter doesn't work. I've tried everything I could understand on the Web to get this working with no result. I think that I've enabled the appropriate settings in the kernel but I've no way of knowing for sure.
