Great idea Dan, there's usually much more than one way of solving a problem in Linux and where there are alternatives they should be listed. Of course the risk is that by offering too many options you begin to make the original problem look more complicated than it perhaps is! What do people think on this?
In Debian 2.2, when I typed "linuxconf" in a terminal window, I used to get a pretty GUI that did lots of Linux administration tasks. I never used it much (I'm one of the unhelpful people who prefer text config files,) so can't vouch for its functionality, but I figured it might be something like what you wanted. Unfortunately, although the manpage still claims this is available with "linuxconf --gui," I can't get anything but a text (ncurses) interface to it, in Debian 3.0.
