I seem to remember that there are some leafnode users here, if so could I ask a couple of questions please.
I've looked at the leafnode web site but it doesn't really have much documentation that gives general information. I'm sure it's fine for details of how to instal it and configure it but I want to be sure it does what I want before I actually try and use it.
So:-
Will leafnode happily collect news from more than one NNTP server?
Will it allow what feels like on-line use? I.e. I don't want something specifically for dial up, I want it to provide me with 'new' news all the time, not just once a day.

Yes. See the servers option of leafnode... BUT if different servers have different groups, then only_groups_pcre is needed to avoid posting to a group on a server which doesn't have it.

I think you have to run fetchnews periodically. How often is up to you and the too-frequent-ban settings on your NNTP servers.
Hope that helps,

Thanks, yes, I have leafnode up and running now with a few hiccoughs down to how cron schedules things. It makes reading news even more 'usser friendly' than reading from NNTP servers direct IMHO as everything happens just about instantly.
Multiple servers are fine too with, as you say, only_groups_pcre set appropriately.
Lovely jubbley (I guess that dates me somewhat!).
