Just to let everybody know that the new anglian@lists.lug.org.uk mailing list problem has now been resolved. As have the MX records for anglian.lug.org.uk and a few other odds and ends.
If Mark Ray could either pass me a list of current subscribers to this list, I will ensure that everyone is currently subscribed to the new list. Otherwise to simply subscribe, send a message to majordomo@lists.lug.org.uk with "subscribe anglian" (without quotes) in the body of the message.
I am the list moderator for anglian@lists.lug.org.uk, so any complaints, flames or otherwise should be addressed to me. Just a recap that that list is for discussion. I'm just wondering if it's worth asking lug.org.uk for an anglian-announce list as well..

Try using the web-based subscribe - it worked for me. It's at http://www.anglian.lug.org.uk/about.html#subscribe

alug-announce doesn't exist at the moment. It's on my todo list. That said, I would prefer if we did move the mailing lists elsewhere, preferably somewhere I have total control (hehehehahahahahahahh <slap>).
I'm going to suggest a trial list at onelist.com for the moment and see how that goes. To subscribe, send a message to mailto:anglian-lug-subscribe@onelist.com and await a response from the server. Follow the instructions to subscribe and all will be well. I've used onelist before and it seems to work well - haven't had any problems with the service at all. The great thing about it is that I can appoint moderators who can look after the list should I explode, go away or whatever. They're running Qmail there, so they have taste ;)
Another test list is anglian-lug-announce@onelist.com - to subscribe send a blank message to anglian-lug-announce-subscribe@onelist.com and follow the instructions you'll get back. A bit long winded, but it will work ;)
I did try for a alug@onelist.com, but some bugger's already taken it :(

Will you settle for using alug@stu.uea.ac.uk, me having total control and you being the list operator?

NO! Let's stay @stu.uea.ac.uk for now. The last thing we need is to divide our people more than we have to.

Must admit, it's easier - let's stick with what is working.

Hang on - I thought the whole purpose of moving the list in the first place was so that you didn't get reprimanded by the SU for using their systems? The onelist.com idea was only an idea, as I'm equally fed up with the Majordomo thing as everybody else is.
So before I waste any more of my time - what is it to be?

Is it worth us staying there if this is gonna keep happening? I've mentioned ALUG to my manager @stu and he's no problem with us using our listserver. He's even talking about perhaps letting us use Union House for a meeting in the summer break (perhaps July?).

Oh bloody hell, I just managed to subscribe to lug.org.uk too!
Make up your minds people!

At main UEA campus? Heh, that'll be ten mins walk for me :))

Sorry! I initially was using this list without permission and thought that moving to lug.org.uk would be a good idea. I now have permission and lug.org.uk keeps screwing up, so we're best to stay here, aren't we?
As soon as I get the membership list out of lug.org.uk (should be 5 mins if they're fixed again), I'll merge the two and Martyn can destroy the other one.
