OK, I'm going to give the web site a bit of a quick kick up the arse this weekend, so other CVS users beware and make sure you do a "cvs update" before editing anything.
Hurrah!
Everyone can help! I'd like any bright ideas about what you want to see on the site, please. The front page will finally become less "content-free", so don't suggest that, but do suggest what you want to see on it.
A penguin, one big herring stuffed penguin! Seriously, a good introduction would be a good idea.
Also, I'd like anyone's explanations of what "Linux is..." and "ALUG is...", please. The more the merrier!
LINUX: is a five letter work.
ALUG: The Anglian Linux Users Group (ALUG) is a group of like minded induviduals, many of which live in the East Anglian Region of England. Membership is not limited to East Anglian with members living as far afield as Kent, The channel Islands and Japan. As a group we exist to help promote the use of Linux and are happy to help any newbie to get started. Any one is welcome, even Bill Gates :o).
The group is made up of over 120 members who are subscribed to the main mailing list. There are two mailing list, ALUG@stu.uea.ac.uk and alug-social@lists.alug.org.uk. #include<discription_of_lists.h>
As a group we try to meet every few months. Meetings vary in there make up but this year have included, mas installs, demo's of wireless networking and general fault finding for people who bring there PC's.
etc etc.... This is just some ideas banged out whilst sat in suffolk college library.
Finally, if anyone wants to help directly, drop me an email and I'll tell you how to get started with CVS and XML as soon as this update is over. It's so simple, even David Freeman should be able to do it! ;-)
No its not! its a convoluted attempt which really boggles the mind! :o)
PS David - there is a dormant Kent LUG for you to restart, you know?
I know, I already have plans <fx action="Evil cackle"> having spoken to a couple of other linux users in kent who want to get it going again.
Thanks
D
