Might also want to take a look at the Kororaa Xgl Live CD http://kororaa.org/static.php?page=static060318-181203 , although I've seen a couple of comments saying that it can be flaky for some combinations of h/w. I've run it on my old Athlon 1.3Ghz + nVidia GForce setup and it works ok but nothing to tempt me away from bog standard Ubuntu :o).

Yes please. I do have hardware capable of running it, but I'm a bit reluctant to "break" my current working setup until I've actually seen it working to decide if it really is anything other than "3D eye candy".
