I would recommend the virtualization route every time - migrating XP between hardware platforms is nigh on impossible.

Oh, I want XP (well, anything which will run Paintsho Pro, Photoshop and Irfanview) for some programs which IMO Linux-based programs can't match.

Wine seems to get on ok with Photoshop and Irfanview:
