Hi list, I've just installed j2re1.3 on a box running debian potato with 2.2.19 and it won't run, brings up the error code 4F530E43505002CC http://developer.java.sun.com/developer/bugParade/bugs/4512651.html
I've installed the same package in the same way (apt-get) on a second box running the same software. This one runs the same files just fine. Google has many reports of this problem but no answers.
I realise this is a feeble and flimsy posting from which I expect to have someone miraculously whisk up a solution, but can anyone shed any light? I can try to capture the output of the error report if it is useful.
Thanks, Jenny.

Were both of these systems exactly identical? If not what were the differences? Did either have a version of Java installed already? (i.e was it an upgrade of Java for either of these systems?).
A full copy of the error messages might be helpful (then again it might not! :o) )

I've hit various obscure problems when using 100dpi fonts and non-ISO-8859-1 locales. Do the locale settings or font sizes differ between the two machines? Do you get the same bug if you try to use a different JVM?
