When I lived there they seemed to be dormant or dead but they have picked up again recently although i got bored of being on their mailing list as it seemed to be 80% spam.

To be fair they seem to have addressed the spam problem at last.

Too late for me though, I left ages ago. The mailing list at one point was either spam or people arguing if they needed a spam filter. I got off the list as the signal to noise ratio got too much for me.

Life is not always carried out on a list. I prefer face to face contact with the people I am talking with.
While CLUG may have a low volume list the regular Sunday sessions are interesting. There is nothing like a group of like minded people exploring just how different their perspectives are :-)

See you at the Fat Cat on Sunday then!

I don't know: I found the two I went to rather dull. If I cared about Windows, I'd be in a Windows group. Of course, my opinion is probably coloured by the whole "MJR wants to take over CLUG" debacle.

Real shame that because IMHO inter lug collaboration is a vital part of the Linux/GNU/Free/Open Source Software moral principle. However the CamLUG people I met at a Cheverly ALUG meet were really nice interesting people so maybe in the future we can collaborate again.

I know that, I lived in Cambridge for a year and found the lug to be very unhelpful. I asked on the mailing list for details of what/where CB2 was and nobody ever told me or even replied to my emails on the list. All i can say at the time they either didn't want new members at all or they were a dead lug. I would have loved to have had some face to face contact (even email would have been alright!) but alas it didn't happen and it wasn't my fault, oh and i remember one time i did see mail on the list and it wasn't very newbie freindly either.
Thanks Adam

My experience was similar. i thought CB2 was a post code but later found out it refered to a Cyber Cafe.
