Either I have lost the ability to type or something else is going on. I'm finding characters swapped around in tetx that I ytpe (that's been happening all the way through this email but I left those in to demonstrate).
Seems to be mostly in Chrome (I'm using Gmail to send this). Seems a particular issue on my Ubuntu laptop, but also happens on my Kubuntu desktop. Don't see it elsewhere.
Thoughts? It seems very bad today. Chrome is also running like a dog despite CPU and memory looking OK in htop. I tend to assume that characters go into a keyboard buffer and out in the same order no matter busy the PC is?
Seems particularly bad around spaces, eg lik ethis.

You have peolpe infecting your keyboard. These are small organisms which randomly swap connections.
My favourite case of peolpe-infection: I once received, via an email list, an advert for a post in the University of Bumringham.[*]
[*] Diagnosis: one instance of swap of keyboard-adjacent letters, one instance of swap of consecutive letters.
Ted.

I suffer from similar typos and I'm pretty certain they are just typos, as you get to type faster and maybe less carefully the errors you describe just happen more.
I find the 'letter migrating across a space' one of the commonest.

That's what I thought, and this has been happening a while now without me investigating it further.
Today though it is happening so much that it cannot be me - I am monitoring it too carefully. In my first post it was literally happening almost every word (and I do mean literally in the literal sense). It's not so bad now, although I have slowed my typing speed down somewhat which might explain it.
However it does seem to be unique to Chrome or Gmail. I've done several tests in a text editor and in the terminal without suffering the same problems, and there is a perceptible lag between my typing and characters appearing on the screen in Gmail today.
Still only seems to be on my Linux boxes but then they are worked harder so anything relating to system performance will hit them first.
