Is this spam? It wouldn't surprise me. Certified Linux people don't seem to understand community groups. Maybe it's because LPI are a free-vapourware company trying to pretend they are a community group, while moving to replace community groups with "industry" groups - LPI-UK is Open Forum Europe, for example. (Free-vapourware? Well, LPI promised Xamnet's release under GPL for years, but I can't even find Xamnet on their web site any more.)
LinuxGym.com appears to be a VMare-promotion site.
Just seen this from BBLUG:

From the Hampshire LUG mailing list:

Seems like spam of a different colour. Same message came through on the SurreyLUG mailing list. If I had never seen the message before, I would have ignored it, but twice in one day on my two favourite mailing lists, and the tone of the message upsets my digestion, and yes, jim snyder if your are listening, I will follow up you posting on SurreyLUG mailing list with an identical message.
--------------------------------------------------------
Add Dorset and OxLUG to the list.
Then again i tried to avoid "certified" anythings. Exams does not equal experience.
--------------------------------------------------------
And Portsmouth LUG. :-(

So don't expect too much help from Jim.

We got one on the Peterborough (PLUG) list, but ours included an advert for hotels in Miami (tagged onto the bottom of the same message posted here), which makes any non-spam conclusion pretty doubtful in my view.
As far as PLUG's list is concerned, I've set Jim's subscription to require future posts to be moderated before acceptance until I know either way for sure.

I've seen it on here, Dorset, Hampshire, Isle of Wight, North Wales, Portsmouth, Surrey and Sussex. Generally the view is that it is spam, although there has been a single reply on the Surrey list (as in reply from the original poster). Those that have noticed the post (i.e. the more active ones) have moderated the address I believe. So amazingly badly done I don't feel inclined to reply even if it is genuine!

I did wonder when the mail first came through to the list, I did try calling the number just now but no reply and was answered by Virgin voice mail. I was going to leave a message but meh, if anyone else does phone the number be nice to whoever answers (or if you leave a message) as it might not belong to "jim".
