Hello, Since first registering on 6th June I have been reading the flow of e-mails in order to understand how ALUG operates. I am a bit confused over the two e-mail addresses function (main@... and main-admin@...) However, I am a self taught home computer owner that has never liked how Microsoft Windows works as an O.S or as a company. I knew of Linux for some time and several months ago obtained the system by accident being free with Linuxuser & developer (redhat 9 ) I successfully installed redhat 9 and have a dual boot system with Windows XP with no conflicts. It took some time to find a modum but succeeded after buying Red Hat Linux 9 for dummies and Red Hat Linux 9 Unleashed(a mighty tome). I don't know anyone who knows of linux and I have developed several problems that I cannot resolve, so need some information to enable me to rectify the problems. I have 5 grandchildren who use computers and wish to introduce them to linux O.S. Bob

Hi Bob --
Welcome to the group. It's always good to see new Linux users. If you have specific problems, try giving them an airing here and see who might be able to help. We were all beginners at one point - many of us still are.

Hi Robert,
The difference between main@ and main-admin@ is that if you send a mail to main@ it will go to all the list subscribers and if you send one to main-admin@ it will go only to the list admins, the only reason you will want to send a mail to the list admins will generally be if you can't send mail to main@
Thanks Adam
