Hi folks,
Can anybody recommend some cheapo wireless kit for a two machine home network. The "server" is a Red Hat 7.2 box with a USB ADSL modem hooked up with full IP masquerading and iptables firewall in place. The other machine is a laptop running Windows 2000. I'm thinking 3COM, but I'm sure they're going to be an expensive choice.

Radio ehterhnet s cheaper than it was, but it is still not cheap. Your best bet is conventional ethernet with a cross-over cable.

Hi,
Unfortunately do not have the luxury of space to do a cross-over config for laptop/desktop box. We really do need the ability to roam around the flat with the laptop.
Thanks for the info anyway - will always come in handy for future reference if I do need to make up such a cable. Mind you, my cabling skills are horrendously crap :(

If you must go wireless it is likely to cost you about �120/machine. see www.netshop.co.uk for a selection of components.
