Went into terminal and tried suggestion and as many options I could figure - nothing, just got messages like 'invalid device requested' 'selected disk doesn't exist' 'error while parsing number'

Does Terminal = Bash shell? or do I have to be somewhere else for the grub console - if so where please. Eric

You need to be at the grub console not the bash shell

Type grub and press return to get to the grub console and then follow Paul's instructions
