Hi - Software Freedom Day (SFD, http://www.softwarefreedomday.org/) is Saturday 18 September 2010 and an excellent annual opportunity to promote Free Software. SFD is not widely known about in the UK, even among LUGs.
At the moment, there's no SFD event listed near East Anglia. Would some ALUGgers like to start a SFD event so that people in the East of England have one?
Given my current location, I'm trying to help the South West one. Maybe we could run a link between the two events, as well as any international links people can rustle up.

Ok, I think a kit meet could be a suitable venue for this, it's been a while since we had one so it would be great if we did an Alug kit meet at the same time.
Has anyone got a suitable venue available or do we need to find one?
My suggestion might be that we use Syleham again if it's available and John is willing to book the hall, or are there better options?

You're the one booking it so it's your choice really :) I suggest waiting 24 hours to hear if anyone has any other/better ideas for their preference of day or venue and then you choose the day you want and book Syleham if nobody comes up with something else?

Kit meet sounds like a great idea. I've not made it to a single kit meet yet despite being an Alugger for quite some time. I'll endeavour to make it to this one.
If it's to be in Syleham, I can take up to 4 passengers from central Naaaaaridge.
