My filter lxml is almost finished, and I was wondering if anyone new of a reason not to use source forge for this application.

Well, the only reason I would say is that: As far as I know, it's not possible to cancel a sourceforge project. So, if you decided to change the licensing to a closed license and maybe sell the project, you might have problems getting it off of sourceforge.
But, I guess you can always just delete all of the the files from sourceforge.
