Hi,
I do not see my brother much. As he has recently brought himself his first computer I am getting him a webcam for Christmas. I would therefore like to get my PC set up and ready for the expected excited phone call and our proposed live video linkup on Christmas Day - sorry guys but this project's deadline is not negotiable ;-)
My brother (who is very new to computers) will be using the webcam bundled "Microsoft NetMeeting" on his Windows only PC at his end. Will I have to also boot into Windows and use NetMeeting my end or is there a Linux equivalent (I run Debian 3.0) I can use?
I also have a more computer literate friend who lives some distance away from me who runs Linux like myself. Is there a NetMeeting type program (even if it is not compatible with NetMeeting itself) which two remote Linux users can use to videoconference over the net?
TIA,
Ian.

The main thing is that M$ netmeeting is an H.323 compliant application for audio and video conferencing (no i don't know what it means :) but i did know this from before and was wondering the same thing the other day)
Anyhow google said this >
http://docs.linux.cz/howto/NetMeeting-HOWTO.html
which looks like a good starting point.

Thanks for the pointer to the HOWTO Adam. Yes, it certainly does look a good starting point and will give me something to start experimenting with this weekend.
Thanks for your speedy and helpful reply.

Gnomemeeting =)
I've used this a while ago and it's quite good actually.. bearing in mind that I ran this on PII 233 back then ;)
Should be okay to use now ;)
