I think it depends who you are and if you volunteer to pay. I've often seen people with their chequebooks handing over money at these shows... ...the best trick is to say "Well I registered, but never received my tickets" to which they appologise and give you some tickets. It certainly worked for me on one or two occasions. In any case it only takes 2 minutes to register! really ?? I've been going to network/which computer show for the last 10 years or so, they say every time "costs X if not pre booked". When I've turned up they hand out free tickets on the door... I've never been to a show where I have had to pay.. then again I've never been to linuxExpo so I can't vouch for that...
