I saw that you posted to uk.comp.os.linux about this also, a suggestion to attract people would be perhaps posting in the newsgroup uk.local.east-anglia but I wouldn't hold out much hope as there are so many trolls there now :)
Thanks Adam I'll have a go there. I can always ignore the trolls, and the message might get through to just the one right person!

Hello - I posted a while ago about setting something up in Chelmsford as East Anglia does look like a bit of a Linux-free area at the moment!
I've just finished moving house plus a couple of sites (Linux Links and White Papers for http://www.LinuxVAR.co.uk and in-beta-testing booking system for http://www.stansted-easy-parking.com if anyone's remotely interested!) and for the next week I'm out and about so if anyone's around, I'd be happy to help with Chelmsford area stuff and talk about how we could work together.
next thursday in Chelmsford -
I'm running a business networking event next Thursday in Chelmsford for my "A12 Club" on Ecademy. Feel free to come along as I'll be giving away some stuff - tentatively SUSE 9.1 Live + The OpenCD but may do more now SUSE 9.1 personal is free for download plus Fedora Core 2 r0cks ;) It's mostly non-tech business users so need to tailor. We're also having a talk from Ecademy National Development Director Andrew Widgery on how Ecademy works plus general on and offline networking insights.
or this thursday in Ipswich -
Club member Leo Borwick's also running the Ipswich A12 club and I'm going up to his event this Thursday at 8pm in the Curve Bar - this list seems to be more North than me so if anyone's around then I'd be more than happy to meet up there... for more info (and a profile with pic hehe) see http://www.ecademy.com or join up for free on http://www.open4.org/joinA12club
Also there only seems to be a few listings under the Eastern region on http://www.LinuxVAR.co.uk - I'm sure there's more so if you are or know people who are supplying open source products and/or services please get them to sign up. There's no catch, it's free, it's there to help educate the UK SME market. As mentioned already, links and white papers up now so if anyone knows/has any they'd like to contribute, please visit the site!
Thanks + hope to see you soon, if not at one of the above then a Chelmsford/Essex LUG meet. If I haven't worked out setting up centrino by then that can be one of the day's challenges hehe...
