I've had a request to give quinophex on #alug more admin power. I've not been there much, so I don't know the context/motive, so I'm emailing the list. Is everyone OK with that? On- or off-list replies OK.
Thanks,

Erk! I didn't know it was *just* me, I thought it was to be me and maybe iDunno as we want to make sure we don't have a single point of failure and have some form of redundancy on people who can fix problems.
The motivation was mostly due to many of the current people listed as ops no longer being available and the lack of ability for anyone to change the ops list in a timely manner.
The reason we thought that we needed some changes made was that the other day we had a delightful little chap turn up and start trolling and I was the only person in a position to be able to do something about him if he got out of hand short of asking network operators to intervene.
2 of the nicks on the access list for ops no longer use the channel, BigJohn visits quite infrequently, Noodles is about sometimes but no longer idles in there. At the very very least we need to add one or two people to the ops list (and one of my suggested is iDunno).
Also, the master is never in there these days it seems ;)
My reason for putting iDunno forward is that he's very often available and is familiar with using chanserv and irc in general and is a longstanding alugger. I think the suggestion for me was because I'm there often and also can drive chanserv if I take a look at the operators manual first.
Thanks Adam

That was my fault, I figured that after we get one active MASTER on the channel, then it can be altered afterwards as per the mailing list admin access...

Mostly the latter that's the issue, most of the regulars in #alug now are not on the access list at all, and there's no one currently in channel that can do the neccessary delegation.

I do tend to idle in there rather a lot - and am usually about during working hours at the minimum :)

Quite.

The suggestion for you (which was from me) was because you were already a CHANOP on the access list, and of that list are the most active on IRC... didn't mean to put you on the spot though...
Cheers,

Added.
That comment made me realise that I'd fallen off the channel during a server restart ages ago or something! I am often available if really needed, but I'm definitely not monitoring #alug closely, as that demonstrates. If you need me to react to abuse and you don't have another way to reach me, call the co-op and ask them to alert me.

Word of warning: the chanserv seems different to when I last used it. Much less flexible.
Hope that helps,

I've had a word with quinophex and it seems he's just seeking a way to secure a trade agreement with the people of the galactic republic. He'l be moving for a vote of no confidence in the current senator and will be standing as his replacement.
Alternatively, it'd just make sense for channel admin to lie with someone who's there most of the time (read: has no life^w^w^w^w)
That's my two shillings and sixpence.

Your name has now been put onto the list of people who are to be interned and made to write php when the revolution comes.

Thanks,
MJ Ray (slef),
It make perfect sense to me that Adam and Brett have full admin status for #alug as they are there most of the time. I am totally happy with either of them taking over the channel on behalf on ALUG if required.

Yes, agreed. That troll the other day was extremely unpleasant.
