Post 1: Indefinite (Ref: AD269) Post 2: Fixed-Term for 2 years (Ref: AD270) One role is an indefinite post and the other a two-year post to provide additional support within the team during the installation of a storage infrastructure and e-science technologies at UEA. The postholders will be part of the IT systems teams which provides central server support at UEA and will be expected to work with the project teams for the two projects, supporting the installation, configuration, initial maintenance and service development of the storage and e-science technologies. The successful applicants will require in-depth OS skills in Linux (preferably Redhat) and Solaris, Microsoft Windows systems OS skills (preferably Active Directory, 2000 and 2003), Unix shell programming and high-level language programming. Experience of at least one of the following will be essential, preferably in a higher education environment; installation and maintenance of open source, operating system and commercial software under Unix/Microsoft, storage management and cluster/fail-over server management. Training on e-science and storage technologies will be provided as required. The postholders will require good communication, analysis and customer care skills. A flexible and self-motivated approach to work will be essential, as will good time management skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Salary will be in the range £22,507 to £29,128 per annum. I don't think it harms to post jobs like that here as it is ontopic and relevant, but only if people make sure they follow the FAQ guidelines (which Simon did btw). I have now updated the FAQ with the url MJR gave above, I'm not quite sure how it never found it in the FAQ in the first place tbh.
