Hi all.
Right, so I finally took a look at ARTS 2.08 (for the uea meeting). It isn't cluttered with terminals, but it is a bit out of the way, back in the teaching wing on the second floor. Lots of desks, not very big (maybe 20-25 people), projector, blackboard, etc. I could see at least a couple of network sockets.
Thoughts?

It sounds fine for a talk, but for an install day, it might be better if one of the common rooms is available. I know they're not networked, but we can try to bring some CDs and mirrors.
Well, you did ask.

A lot depends on what the room is to be used for.
For an ordinary alug meet it is fine - we usually have fewer than 25 people and enough network hubs that 1 network port would be enough.
If it is for install day then it would be better to have an obvious location rather than an out of the way one though that may be a luxury and UEA is probably easier to find than syleham.
Steve.

OK, I'm coming to this thread late, but why aren't people going for the SYS department? Granted I haven't been there in over 2 years probably, but it can't have changed that much. There are a number of large open plan labs on the ground floor of the new building. And what about the Elizabeth Fry building - that's fully networked up too isn't it?

Because mere mortals can't book rooms in there, weekends used to be limited access (not sure about now) and no-one from SYS has offered to help us do it. If someone from SYS is willing and able to help, speak now...

And not open at weekends, last time I tried (about 2 and a half years ago, I admit). Has that changed, does anyone know? EF would be a good venue, modern, fairly easy to find and near a car park.
