Please could you tell me how to configure Linux to run my Dazzle a/v box that i got for xmas. The OS's that i'm planning to run it on is one of four:- Suse 10.2,Mandriva 06,Ubuntu 5 and Fedora 5.So if one is the easier than the rest then tell me how to configure that one as it's going to be a duel boot with Windows 98SE(hence the switch to Linux). Thanks for your help Robert

Sadly it seems that there is almost no Linux support for the DVC 100 (I assume that is the device you are referring to) Pinnacle (who bought Dazzle) have not released any Linux driver code nor have they released any specifications from which one could be built.
Often in these cases somebody bright from the community will have a scratch to itch and reverse engineer the device to produce a workable driver..however in the case of this device there does not seem to be much momentum.
So you may have to rely on the Dual Boot configuration to boot into Windows to do your video capture, you could at least work on the captured files in linux (as they look to be standard mpeg4) with something like kino and qdvdauthor. qdvdauthor is pretty unfinished but it does at least give you a point and clicky front end to what otherwise can be a slightly daunting task of writing the DVD menus etc
All of the distro's you mention will guide you through setting up dual boot on installation..But I'd strongly advise you take backup copies of anything important first. Anything else comes down to personal preference really..I think all of the distro's you mention have live CD versions so if you have the bandwidth you could download and sample any(or all) of them before committing to an installation. Do bear in mind however that a LiveCD version will be very slow (and very very slow if you have limited RAM)
That said from your list I have spent some time on Suse but I am now happier on Ubuntu.
