What are the odds of them sponsoring a Debian installfest? ;-) Andrew. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- A.Savory at uea.ac.uk All views are my own - who else would want them? ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- [ This email came to you via the Anglian Linux User Group list ] [ If you only wish to recieve event announcements, email the ] [ SUBJECTs of "unsubscribe alug" and "subscribe alug-announce" ] [ to listserver@stu.uea.ac.uk -- We do need your support, tho' ]

It would be nice. Going slightly off-topic - has anybody tried Corel Linux as yet? Personally I'm still sticking with Debian/Red Hat/SuSe distributions, but just curious to know what it's like :) Regards, Martyn -- Martyn Drake - ICQ: #55962636 Using The Bat! 1.38e under Windows NT 4.0 Build 1381 Service Pack 6 Systems Administrator, NetDirect Internet Ltd NetDirect Internet -> http://www.netdirect.net.uk NetDirect Online -> http://www.ndo.com [ This email came to you via the Anglian Linux User Group list ] [ If you only wish to recieve event announcements, email the ] [ SUBJECTs of "unsubscribe alug" and "subscribe alug-announce" ] [ to listserver@stu.uea.ac.uk -- We do need your support, tho' ]

I have tried to install Corel Linux on a K6-233 with a mach64 in it...with no success *at all*, when Corel decided to switch to X on afore mentioned machine X decides that it'll split the screen in to 3rds and fsck up the display...thereby rendering installing anything fairly much impossible...if only they'd thought of that before switching to X so early...oh well - will probably have a stab on me other halfs machine when she *finally* gets round to getting her new HD. Yes - it rocks! :-) It has all the good points of Debian without the installation nightmares. My only possible criticism would be that it lags a long way behind Debian unstable in terms of software versions, but I guess that's something I could put up with in return for ease of use. It's definitely one to recommend to first-time nuxers.
Personally I'm still sticking with Debian/Red Hat/SuSe distributions, but just curious to know what it's like :)
RedHat should be burned at the stake for sticking with RPM. Until they get dependencies working, I just don't want to know. SuSe I've never tried so I couldn't comment. Debian - well, what _can_ you say about perfection? Okay - I'll respond to this and state that we have a meeting coming soon(ish) and would be very interested their offer and could their provide more information. Hopefully unlike SAMS Publishing offer which appeared to have vapourated into thin air, this should be quite a cracker of an offer :) Regards, Martyn On 06 January 2000, Martyn Drake wrote:-
