I've got some pictures that I backed up to a DVD earlier this year. But now when I put it my computer to recover some of them it shows up as an empty DVD+R. I can see from the surface that it has been written to, but the computer just isn't seeing it. Is there any programs that I can use to try and recover what is on the disk?
Any help would be greatfully recived.
Thanks Torben

photorec and/or testdisk.
Site appears to be totally broken right now, but you will be able to find them with your favourite search engine.

Thanks Adam,
I had a look at those (on my work windows box) but they didn't help (I'll give them another go linux tonight, not that I think it will make much difference).
After I posted my question last night I did try dd and gddrescue, but both failed to get anything useful.
Both of the, just copied 2024 bytes and then stopped. It is as if the session has been closed and the computers are refusing to see the first session.
I did have some success, when I inserted the disc into my DVD player (a LG RHT397H). There it would show all the pictures fine. I believe I can rescue my pictures now by using the DVD player to copy them to its own hard drive and then from there to a USB stick.
I'm just rather curious as to why non of my computers can see the file?
