If there weren't, there should be, the very first post of the previous digest, quoted, (underneath the reply, so there was also the sin of top-posting), the entire digest.

I would suggest that the list doesn't have enough traffic to make digest particularly useful, how many people (out of interest) have this option set?

I do, I'm subscribed to a large number of Mailing Lists, all of them, where they have the option, in the digest format.
