After upgrading Debian Potato/KDE1 to Debian Testing/KDE2 an icon on the KDE desktop which should run Word Perfect now doesn't.
I have seen in the .xsession-errors file a line which says:
cannot find path to /usr/local/WordPerfect/wpbin/xwp
This used to work under KDE1 but the mystery is that if I copy the command line from the icon properties and paste it into a shell window Word Perfect runs without problems.
If I enable the icon property 'Run in terminal' then it will run.
Can anyone explain this please?

It sounds like it needs something from your shell configuration. Does changing the command to being /bin/sh -c /usr/local/.... make it work without "run in terminal"? Is your shell configuration being loaded in your .xsession or equivalent file? (If unsure, tell us how you log in, we'll tell you which file.)
